"You go ahead," said the soul to the body,
"because He doesn't listen to me".
"All right," said the body,
"I'll get sick, then HE'll have time for you".
The psychological care of our patients is an important pillar of the holistic therapy concept at Hufeland Clinic, because almost every illness has psychological causes and/or psychological effects that we often do not even realize ourselves because we give our soul little time and often no attention. Simply talking openly with the patient about their problems, about their illness, but also about topics such as dying and death, is an important first step. Autogenic training, deep relaxation exercises, visualization exercises according to Simonton and meditative methods also have a positive effect. Our experience shows that cancer patients are very often isolated because neither their relatives nor their doctor are prepared to talk openly with them about their illness. Absolute honesty and an open approach to the patient must therefore be the top priority. This is the only way to lead patients out of their isolation and show them a way to live positively and purposefully despite and with their illness.
