Fasting mimicking diet (also known as mock fasting) is a scientifically developed nutritional concept that activates key metabolic processes associated with traditional fasting, while maintaining a low, precisely defined food intake. A plant-based diet with a significantly reduced calorie and protein content for a few days puts the body into a fasting-like metabolic state.
Unlike therapeutic fasting according to Dr. Buchinger, which involves completely abstaining from solid food, fasting mimicking diet allows small meals to remain part of the program. The aim is to stimulate regenerative processes such as cellular self-cleaning (autophagy), metabolic change, and insulin sensitivity – while at the same time making it more suitable for everyday life.
Simulated fasting is particularly suitable for people who want to benefit from the positive effects of fasting but do not wish to completely abstain from food.
Medical supervision is a matter of course. Every fasting cure includes an initial consultation with a doctor and an assessment by our trained team of fasting coaches. Our nursing team is also available to assist you with any complaints you may have during your stay.
Your stay begins with a light, digestive-friendly evening meal. The following day marks the start of the five-day Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD), which represents the scientifically defined core of the programme. This is followed by a carefully supervised reintroduction of food. In our 10- and 14-day programmes, the refeeding phase is complemented by additional days of alkaline fasting to further support metabolic health and overall well-being.
Like our other fasting programs, simulated fasting is embedded in a holistic concept of exercise, relaxation, and naturopathic support—with the aim of providing lasting impetus for metabolic health and prevention.
